History

The Dia Foundation for Research on Ageing Societies was founded by 29 companies of Mitsubishi group on June 18, 1993, approved by Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

Objectives

Through investigations and researches on subjects in the aged society, we work for and contribute to establishing a productive, successful and meaningful society as a private research organization.

Main Activities

(1) Searchable free database

Development and operation of the database of Japanese articles on social gerontology, DiaL (Dia's Library on Social Gerontology).

(2) Study and Research

  • Research on improvement of the quality of long-term home-care services
  • Research on active lifestyles and social relationships of retired persons
  • Research on the impact of urban intergenerational program on children's perceptions of elders

(3) Field and Practical Activities

  • Development of skill-up methods for home-care workers
  • Promotion of training programs for home-care workers
  • Development of assessment system for home-care services
  • Development of a unique aerobic dance program suitable for Japanese seniors, "DIABIC", and propagation of the program by senior instructors
  • Support of social participation and social contribution of retired persons to realize a happy and vigorous ageing society, Dia Activeageing Association(DAA)
